Chardonnay 2008

Our 2008 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless Steel and aged sur lie in French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation for added complexity and structure. The wine is aromatic, with notes of toasty oak and butterscotch, along with green apple and pear. It has undertones of spice and citrus flavors o the palate, finishing with vibrant acidity.

Featured on the Jay Leno Show on Oct. 28, 2007 and in the Travel section of the Washington Post on February 8, 2009, our proprietary white blend of Vidal Blanc and Chardonnay, with a touch of Niagara and Petit Manseng, is named after a local rural legend. This refreshing “social sipper” is brimming with floral aromas and tropical fruits notes including mango, peach, apricot and honey. The wine has a touch of sweetness on the finish highlighted by candid orange flavors.

Skillful blending and French oak aging of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon completes our Bordeaux style signature red blend. Medium-bodied, with juicy red fruit flavors, enjoy with steaks, roasts, and aged Gouda or medium-sharp Cheddar.

This premium blend of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Chambourcin, Yadkin Valley varietals, is full bodied and smooth with an intense color. All of these grapes are from the 2007 harvest, which was the best grape year in the last 20-30 years because of the severe drought. We feel this wine will age well and may be properly cellared for 2 or 3 years. Serve with a special dinner (filet mignon or roast). Released to celebrate Brushy Mountain Winery’s second anniversary, October 2008.

The Booger Swamp Red is a semi-sweet blend of Chambourcin (66%), Cabernet Sauvignon(17%) and Cabernet Franc (17%). It has enticing aromas of blueberries, violets, and jam. On the palate there are flavors of caramel, raisin and boysenberries giving way to tobacco and spice on a soft and velvety finish. The wine’s soft tannins and sweet finish make it perfect social sipping!
